Hey Guru's
I've been cruising this forum and can't believe the wealth of knowledge you all have. An amazing resource for sure. I am proud of you all for maintaining such an honorable tradition. I am new to restoring 40's vintage inliners. My pops has owned a fabulous and successful speed shop on the central coast of CA for over 60 years. He has managed to hoard just about every inline six and four banger part imaginable. Not to mention flathead stuff.
Sad to say, pops is not doing well and I am stepping in to keep things running until the family can figure out what to do. In the mean time I am going crazy with all the unfinished projects he has lying around that are incredible. He has three race car projects, and two roadsters as well as a (and this is my favorite) 41 GMC series 150 long bed p/u with the stock 228 still in it and running.
I have built in the past a 1953 CJ3B with all stock running gear powered by a 153 Iron duke. a 1970 3 door 'Burb all original with a 402, and am currently putting on the back burner a 1964 Falcon Ranchero that I am converting to a Reverse powered Sprint car motor that pops built in the '70's. It's a 400 Ford that cranks about 500hp.( it only turns left... hehe).
I have some fabricating experience but most of it gets farmed out when the buzz box can't do the job. I so appreciate being in the good hands of experts like you all. Thanks and hope to tap into your brains soon.

Welcome! Sounds like you grew up with this old iron. I hope your dad will be allright, be sure to spend time with him and don`t let work get in the way. I`m a big fan of race cars that turn left, can`t wait for the season to start up again. Good luck!

canepatwin, looks like a nice project. Leo gives some good advice. I wish my dad was around to ride with me in my old iron.
But, that being said, now it the time to get started. Instead of trying to keep all his projects going it looks like your doing the smart thing and tackling them one at a time. Good luck and let us know how we can help.

Sorry to say Leo, pops is in Hospice and I am hanging around just to keep him from being scared or lonely. I talk to him all the time but the Parkinsosn's demetia makes him wander off subject. I take notes everytime I'm with him. He is a wealth of knowledge and I am going to miss him. So I'll spend time with him now and be the little sponge soaking everything in while I have him. Thanks for everything you do.

Nice project and great that you're there to carry on for your dad. There was an old fella around here that was an old time brake expert. Unfortunately when he passed so went tons of material, over 25,000 brake shoes and much much more.

You are right Achipmunk, Pop's is the most important man in my life right now. He's not able to roll with me but he sure can hear me rumble past his window. The nurses say he calls them on his call button to tell them I just pulled in..... It does my heart good to make him smile.
