For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 83 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 83 | I need to replace the brake and clutch pedal brass bushings on my '41 3/4 ton and I have a question about disassembling the unit. At the end of the shaft that runs through the pedals, there is a round collar with what appears to be a pin driven through it. I've tried to drive the pin out but it won't budge. Am I on the right track or is there another trick to taking this thing apart?

Have you tried the online manuals for any help. They may give you some help. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/Look in the online manuals for your year. Good luck and don't give up. Someone that knows should be by here just anytinme. If not, post a pic and maybe it'll jog mine, or someone elses, memory. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 | you need to remove the dowel pin first. then you need to drive out the shaft that the pedal rotates on. the you need to drive out the old brass bushing and reverse sequence when reinstalling everything. my truck was always garage kept plus with all the oil and grease that the parts are caked luckily with mine the pin and shaft came out fairly easy. what ever you do dont break any of the castings in the removal process. the clutch pedal should have a push/pull pin and thats an easy one at least thats how it is on my 40. | | |
