HI, can any one tell me where to find replacement ft. shocks for my 1 ton ? I can find shocks listed for 1/2 & 3/4 ton all day long.Will a 3/4 ton shock fit 1 ton ? Thanks for any help.

You don't say what year, but the correct shocks for the front are available. I think I got mine at Jim Carters. As far as I know, there is nothing special about them and you could probably buy them at your local flaps.

NAPA has them. I put the tube style shock in my '48 3800, 18 yrs ago. They are Monroe. And I got them for a '53 3800, and changed the mounts on my '48 frame.

My 3800 is a 1954 ,the local napa and advance auto say they do not have a listing but could cross ref if I had #.I've could not find a listing in LMC truck,Chevs of the 40's,Classic Chevy,Obsolete Chevy Parts,inc,Kanter,ect. If any one has a part # that may be very helpful. thank you.

Jimmy Caters item number is ME833. I bought mine there, they are a name brand, cut I forget what it is.

wbrowne - I have the knee action shocks on my truck - did you have the same before you changed to tube style?

Bigtonka- Yes, orginally my truck had the lever action front shocks. I changed the lower shock mount plate that is held in place by the front axle U-Bolts and then I mounted the upper shock mount brackets from a '53 onto my frame. Then installed the tube shocks. It was more cost effective going this route instead of having the original lever action shocks rebuilt to the tune of $150. each!

Hey buddy! see how much the postage is from US 72126 & I'll send you the shock mounts off my 51 3800 parts truck. US postal service has flat rate shipping boxes, that may be cheapest. I got great quality gas shocks from classic performance products. they're listed for 1/2 tons but are bigger around & have a larger piston rod than the oem shocks that were on it. DDefinite improvement while you're at it you may as well order a swaybar from them too.

If you didn't find a replacement (my local Napa couldn't find any), I got a pair of KYB GR-2 #343219 gas shocks from Dan's Classic auto parts in Portland. They were ~$28/each.
