I have a 1953-55 Corvette 235 engine with 1953 235 heads on it.It came from a truck that was in a garage fire.Its not frozen the pistons move when hand turned.Could this engine be saved?

It depends how hot the fire got. Likely the block and crank can be saved. The engine needs to be torn down to inspect for damage. All gaskets and bearings need to be replaced anyway.

Becuse of the cast no#s 3835911.checking the no#s on Stove bolt.Its a 1953-1955 Corvette block.

If the nos. are for a 53 or 54 vette I would say the engine would be in high demand. Good bucks from a vette restorer. NCRS restorers are looking for correct numbers. Just an idea that might be turned into dollars. tom

You need to check the stamping next to the distributor to be sure it is Corvette.
I don't have the info for 53 but 54 Corvette blocks would be stamped with a YG suffix.

Better check that casting number again- - - -3835911 is for a 1954 235 with a Powerglide transmission (possibly Vette), and it's also listed as a 1955 235, no mention of transmission. Your 33 at the beginning of the number is probably a 38.

The stamped number on the pad behind the distributor will give you a better idea whether or not it's really a Corvette application.

Research Ive found on the 3835911 block. Is a 1954 with powerglide. And found on the 1954 Corvettes.Numbers on my are 0420333f54m.Other cast no# Con1 & C124

The "M" suffix was used in 1/2 ton truck with auto trans in 54.

The "other cast no#" ...C124
is the casting date.
