The engine needs to be torn down to inspect for damage. All gaskets and bearings need to be replaced anyway. | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,516 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,516 | Im sure youve checked, but how do you know its a Corvettte engine? | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 42 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 42 | Becuse of the cast no#s 3835911.checking the no#s on Stove bolt. Its a 1953-1955 Corvette block.

Good bucks from a vette restorer. NCRS restorers are looking for correct numbers. Just an idea that might be turned into dollars. tom | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 | You need to check the stamping next to the distributor to be sure it is Corvette. I don't have the info for 53 but 54 Corvette blocks would be stamped with a YG suffix.

Your 33 at the beginning of the number is probably a 38. http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/chevytalk/GMhistory/1916-57cast.html The stamped number on the pad behind the distributor will give you a better idea whether or not it's really a Corvette application.
