My 38 has dual wipers - but only driver side has a motor. The passenger side is apparently just for looks! I am assuming the extra wiper is not "factory". Is there enough vacuum on a stock 216 to operate 2 wipers?

the 2nd might have had the motor removed sometime - there were also setups back in the day with a connecting bar externally so one wiper arm made the 2nd move in tandem .... I had 2 motors on a 46 GMC with a 228 that worked reasonably, but vacuum wipers aren't the greatest under any circumstances and when running 2 it doesn't take much push on the gas to stop them dead

I had a 49 ford with a V8 flat head and one wiper, anytime you let off the gas you were running blind. I am sticking with one wiper on the 37 since I will be running vacuum. If I am reading the master parts book correctly the dual wiper used one motor with links to two rods to each side transmission, it shows 35 to 54 2nd design. But the motors part numbers changed almost every year except between 37-38,42-48 and 49-52. No expert only going by the book.

If you plan on driving in the rain you might consider replacing the vacuum with electric. Having an original Bolt is great but I would certainly upgrade where safety is concerned. That would include brakes, lights, and windshield wipers.

Be sure and use rain-x. if you can get it above 45mpg you don't need wipers most of the time.

Have posted this before but once again: vacuum wipers have an advantage over electric IF DONE RIGHT. First, go to your local pick-a-part and get the electric vacuum pump from a Mercedes diesel for 10 bucks or less (it's behind the spare tire). This can be mounted anywhere in the truck so even the best show judge doesn't know it exists if you use a little ingenuity. Where your friends truck may have a 2 or even 3 speed electric wiper you will have one with 100+ and it will work uphill pulling a loaded trailer and with the foot feed on the floor. You don't need intermittant wipers since you can adjust the speed to provide one sweep at any time interval you desire.

That is awesome Coilover! What junkyard around these parts do you like to go too? The ones south of me that I have been too are usually pretty crappy.

To get a better vacuum system get a combination fuel and vacuum pump to cure the "slow down" issue.
