Does anyone know a reliable source for finding a reproduction or GOOD used hood? Mine looks like swiss cheese around the bottom, and I need to find a replacement in the next couple of weeks. All companies like LMC have is a front patch panel, which is about 1/3 of the area I have rust in. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help with the hunt!

Good, used hood shells are available, but shipping is a bear, due to the size & weight. The patch panels are a good source of the material needed to replace the bad spots, but the process of installing them, is another story. For the cost of the panels and the labor-intensity of installing them properly, a good, used hood shell can be acquired.

If you want to make a trip to Oklahoma theres a lot of good parts there but you have to get out to the small town wrecking yards.

Unfortunately, making it to Oklahoma isn't an option. I wish i could. 62-66 trucks are rare as can be in the boneyards around here, and all of them either have had their hoods picked or are in no better shape than mine.

You might be able to have the wrecking yard put one out on their hot line. But make sure they specify a good straight and rust free hood.

I'm here in Pensacola,Florida,aka LA (lower Alabama), and have the same problem...hood has rusted through mainly in the front where the inside is not accessible due to the support panel. I'm looking for a new hood. If you find another source let me know. Cutting and welding-in patch panels is tough business for the hood.

I'd look on Craigslist in Texas,Oklahoma and Arkansas and see about buying a whole truck OR go to the airport,get a grid map and pay a pilot that needs air time to fly over small towns, mark the spots on the map then drive back, it will blow your mind what is sittin g in the back yards of towns within 100 miles of you.

there ain't none in Arkansas that are rust free & straight, at least I haven't found one in 10 yrs of looking....Tom Myers in Miami, OK has a few nice ones from time to time.

Sent an email to Brian aka Colettesbro, haven't heard anything yet but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I know of a couple of 62-66 trucks sitting around near here, but I'm not sure they'd be wanting to part them out. And I don't have the space to store a whole spare truck, really.

Anyone know why nobody repops a whole hood? When you look at the chevy truck page on most sheetmetal websites, they skip right over the 60-66 trucks. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield... no respect!
