I am almost on the road with my 55 1st 3/4 ton 5 window. This will be a tow vehicle (yeah, thats right, i am actually going to USE my truck - unlike those furd and NOPAR guys). so, I will be pulling a 17' trailer (kitchen on wheels) and need to better understand which mirror arms and mirrors would be most appropriate and then where they are supposed to be mounted.

Any advice?

You will need to consider something other than the short arm factory mirrors since you can's see much out of them. Anything else is going to be after market or you may want to try mounting the arms from a bigger truck series I am not sure how that will look. Most of the aftermarket mirrors will involve drilling mounting points into your doors. Period mirror sets appear on eBay once in a while so at least they are somewhat correct to the era.
