| | THANKS!
For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 64 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 64 | Changing the ratio in a '40 1 1/2 ton rear end. Finally got through the pinion switch. Not quick and easy. Now the bolts are out of the ring gear and it appears that it won't come off without some heat like a flywheel ring gear. Could really use some advise from someone who has done this before. Maybe it is time to get a tad bit more aggresive. Will give it a try again. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 64 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 64 | 3B, Thanks again. That did the trick. Tapping gently is really...drive firmly. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | Where did you get your replacement gears? | | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 64 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 64 | Truckernix, I bought the gears from Vintage Auto Parts Inc. , vapinc.com , 800-426-5911 Never bought from them before but it all went fine. NOS clean and I paid $ 375.00 for the set.
