Hey all,

Looking for recommendations for disk brake conversion kits for my 51 1/2 ton.

Looking around online it seems like all the different sellers have the same basic kit. What are my options and what are the pros and cons of the basic kit that's out there?

Thanks.

There's lots of information if you use the search feature. Here are a couple I found.

Disc brake conversion opinions wanted

53 Disc Brake Conversion???

Cletis did a nice job with photographing the process on his conversion. Maybe he will post them for you.

I purchased my kit from TUCKERS in nevada.
It was on sale at the time. The Box said P.O.L. so I believe it is a performance on line kit.
Stock kit.
Manual Master cylinder.
If I had upgraded to the power kit I would of had to relocate the cross member.

The power kit is preferred.

Other things to consider.
up grade to tapered wheel bearings Basic kit at that time did not include them.

On My 50 I had to drill out the spindle mounting holes for the backing plates (May not be the same for your year truck)
...pic...

My wheels did not clear the calipers.

Ran all new brake lines.

NO INSTRUCTIONS with the kit I got.

Avoid the CCP kit.
You've been warned.

You can also talk to this guy. He makes a great easy fit kit.

The drawback is contact by phone only.No website. He will answer all questions and be very patient explaining anything. Not pricey either.

POL kit on a '54 GMC Suburban.

CPP kit on a '54 GMC 100. Scroll down to get to the brakes.

If its made to fit a certain year then it should fit. The one size fits all gets us in a heap of trouble. If it takes mods for a particular year then it should be listed seperate and made to fit. When I spend my money I expect it to be what it says.

Drew, have you ever spoken to the guys at Buffalo's??
