Who supplies parts for the band/drum parking brake set up we have on our 1957 Chev 3600? The lining on the band is totally shot and the drum isn't looking so good either. This is the parking brake set up on the rear of the transmission, a Muncie SM420.

and a few Trans Ams.

I got mine from local auto parts store (KOI)I think they are part of (Federated Auto Parts). They sent them out to get relined. They look great but truck not moving under it's own power yet. I can't remember what it cost.

The Brake Warehouse on Harrison St. Minneapolis can reline almost anything. Look for NOS for your drum.

What kind of finish is orginally on that parking brake drum? Was is bare steel with the brake surface being smooth? Is there a good source for NOS brake drums?

The drum only has to hold the truck, its not the same as a rolling brake drum on a wheel. As long as the braking surface is round, finish is not much concern. Our fleet of school buses still use this type of system so check with a local brake supplier, they should be able to fix you right up.
