My wheels are getting a little rust starting in between the lug nuts ( I guess the chrome is thinner there ). I try to keep them waxed but I need to know what can I use to remove the rust and not mess up the chrome anymore than it already is . Also , is there something better than wax to keep it from rusting or atleast getting worse ?

Simichrome Polish will remove surface rust from chrome. The stuff is amazing.

cletis is right! Simichrome Polish is great. Yes that area always seems to be a problem and on the last set of wheels I had it was an ongoing cleaning process. I would have to focus around the lugs everytime I cleaned my wheels. I finally snapped on dog dish caps to hide the dullness before I switched to Vette Rallys. Chrome polish and elbow grease is a short answer.

Black paint,.............. just kidding but SOS pads seem to get it off quickest or Bar keepers friend.

Oxalic Acid works great...I believe that's the active ingredient in Bar Keeper's Friend.

I have used Aluminum Brightener from LANDA and man, it's night and day difference with very little work and it does nothing to the chrome but really shines up the metal. I did my grille that way, and it took all the rust off and brought out what was left of the chromed grille! It has always worked. Note: Need to use gloves when handling, don't splash on skin and use a long handled brush only for that use, this stuff is really tough on rust so be careful.
