Since its too cold outside to do anything I figure I would bouce some questions off the forum.

From what I can tell I have a few panels tha need replacing on my 53 3100 1/2 ton.

I need the forward floor,

I am going to swap out the firewall (LOTS of holes in it).

I need outer rear cab corners

Inner left hand rear cab corner

LH rear cab lower piller

both inner cowl panels (kick plate area)

LH outer cowl

Also I need the LH "C" channel that goes in between the inner and outer cowl for the LH Side

So my question is more geared towards the front of the cab...Where do I start? That forward left corner is basically needing to be completely rebuilt. floor, firewall inner/outer cowls,c channel and they all connect to eachother. one of the more experienced guys want to give me a order of opperation list? Maybe someone who has done exactly what I have to do with this corner...I am slightly overwhelmed thinking about it. I can link pix if necessary.

I am thinking Firewall, forward floor, then cut out all the damage on the LH side sort of like Czechman did. then put on the outter cowl and work in? any opinions?

If the cab needs that much work, any chance you could find a better cab and save yourself some time and money? I would start on the inside and work out. If you cut any pillars or floors make sure to brace the door openings.

its really not so bad i dont think..I could use the firewall but since it has alot of holes in it and i want a 350 in it I figured I would get the modded firewall..thats still up in the air.

from my loose tally

L/R outer rear cab corners- 60.00
LH outer cowl-35.00
FWD floor- 120.00
LH Rear cab lower pillar patch- 32.00
L/R inner cowl panels- 70.00
c-channel thing- 50.00

that adds up to 367.00 I dont think thats bad at all. I mean in the grand scheme of auto restoration thats "chump change"..i think its ok

Do one side at a time, cowls first. If you are not cutting through the sill or the hinge pillar you won't have to brace anything. Your biggest issue is being sure the contour of your cowl matches the contour of the door so test fit before welding.

Expect to tear your hair out getting the inner-to-outer cowl and inner cowl to fit. I've yet to see two people attack this problem the same. It's a mess so be prepared.

Once you get your cowls welded up deal with the floor making sure you don't mess up the dimension between the sills. Then do the firewall.

Rear cab corners last. After all that other stuff, it's a pice of cake. Be sure the contour of the cab corner matches the door.

Hope that helps.
