I want to put my logo on the doors, simple enough. But I also want it to look like someone had taken some previous door art off before I put my logo on. As I drive by, you don't really notice it, but if u stand there beside it in the parking lot, you can tell something was there before.
Anyone have any ideas on the best way to accomplish this? I've got some ideas but want to hear yours first.
'69 1/2T stepside, Sea Foam Green, 250 L6 w/ 3 on the tree, not an option on it, in the family since new.

Don't know why in the world you would want to do that to a fresh paint job in the first place.

I plan to make it look like (figuratively) that truck with the lettering removed and my logo put in it's place.

Good-luck. Very close to what I was thinking but I like your idea better. I was thinking of applying a satin or flat clear (if there is such a thing). Only other concept I could come up with was a color only slightly off of the base coat with clear for protection. A good artist may be able to "shadow" it in?? Can you clarify exactly what you mean here? A shadow of the outline of the letters or some other color over the current paint? Thanks for the comments so far.

Its just an artists "trick" that he does with mixing his paint and applying the design.
I use to do a lot of woodwork and I'd rub stain over nice white paint to get the distressed look ect ect. An artist does pretty much the same but does it as one picture he is painting. I must admit some guys are a lot better at it than others. Perhaps you can get someone to draw a rendition on paper to get the idea of what you want in the end.
