when I pulled the tranny on my '52 3600 the input shaft bearing retainer on the front of the unit has no sleeve on it for the T.O. bearing to slide in and out on. can anybody shed some light on this??????????????

Does it look like is broke off (is the end of the retainer round/smooth)? That part is broken on the SM420 in my COE and will be replaced before next Spring.

Sounds like it is broken and the "sleeve" may be stuck inside of the T.O. bearing. If there is a raised spot on the sleeve that can cause the clutch to stick and not engage fully.
