In my truck 40-45 is plenty. Brakes, tire condition all come into play. Also without a load these big bolts are a bit light and bouncy in the rear. Take it out and drive it, get used to it. After that then look at the speedometer and see what it says. Have fun. Don

my 51-6100 at 53 with a fresh 59-235 is running 2700 rpm according to the tah i had on it. 45 is where it sounds the best but on the highway i run it at 50.

In my '52 2-ton with a 235 40 mph feels best. Forty-five is doable, but seems like I'm pushing it. At 50 it feels like it's coming unglued.

My 46 COE has a top speed of about 40, when your seting on top of the front axle things are a little more bouncy. Even with new front tires

If we drive enough of these trucks, maybe they will bring back the 55 limit and we won't seem so slow. Remember those days....?

My '54 GMC 2 ton is without title right now so I'm not driving it,but as it's currently set up,my number cruncher indicates it'll cruise at about 80,with a full out redlined top end of 102,if the 302 can work up enough power. (It's a little ways from stock though.302 six,5 speed OD,3 speed OD,2 speed axle w/6.40 high)

Speed,

Thanks for the laugh, as I thought about the look on my face if I were doing 102 mph in my '41 fire truck. I REALLY like the phrase "feels like it's coming unglued . . ."

That Star Trek "shooting into warp speed" effect surrounding the truck, parts flying off in all directions, my cheeks being drawn back in the g-force effect, and sheer terror written all over my face, as the scream I'm uttering is lost to the sound barrier.

grin

Does anybody have any experience with the Advanced Adapter Ranger Torque Splitter Overdrive as a way to help with High Way Speed? As I understand you can get it with 27% overdrive. Between my two speed rear (currently unknown ratios, but stump pulling low for sure) and my sm465 thought it might help the truck work easier at "highway speeds" whatever they happen to be. Thanks.
