Walter Reed Medical center closed in August 2011 and merged with the National Naval Medical Center which is located in Bethesda,MD Also,, any cards sent to "A Recovering American Soldier" will be thrown away unopened. This info is provided by Snopes.com. Type in "Cards for Recovering Soldiers and it is all explained. Further info will be found for "Holiday Mail for Heroes at the Snopes.com site with the proper address and it also explains how the Red Cross is involved. There are guidelines listed also. The address is: Holiday Mail For Heroes P O Box 5456 Capitol Heights, MD. 20791-5456 Any questions,I printed all the info Deadline for mailing a card is Dec. 9th so lets get some cards going to the proper address and help spread some Holiday Cheer.
