Well almost. New for me at least. I have not given up on my 51, 235 that keeps breaking rocker arms. But, I did buy another motor. It is a 60, 235. This series engine was produced from 58-62. Does anyone know if there were any differences in the 235 during those years?

I havn,t replied cause there is Bolters out there that know more about that than I do. The 58-62 truck engines are pretty much the same. The car engines with powerglide have hydraulic valve lifters. Most cars had the 848 head which gives a little more compression. Somewhere in there the boss on the side of the block for the throttle bell crank was in a different location. I ran into that many years ago.

I recently bought a 1960 235 truck engine to replace my 56. I did a little research at:

Suggestion: select "Chevy engines", click on the year you are checking out, and then scroll WAY down on that page for the specs.

This is a helpful site that gives all the vital engine specs and subtle differences between the various Chevy 6 cylinder engines. It gives specific info on the correct distributor/valve/cam timing which was of special interest.

You'll also need to check into the waterpump adaptor plate/early waterpump, that will allow you to mount your radiator in the proper position on the core support. I hope this helps.
