I'm trying to install new e-brake cables on my '53 3100 but having issues. First, I cannot see how the insulated part of the cable can fit into the bracket on the frame. The original cable has a groove that fit in the bracket, the new ones do not: Bracket1 Bracket2 Original Second, the plates that mount on the brake backer plate do not mate up, due to one is crimped on the outer insulater and the other is stopped by the end cap: Mounting plate1 Mounting plate2 Original1 Original2 Has anyone else had these issues and if so how did you resolve them? Any help is greatly appreciated.

My biggest concern is trying to fit them into the frame brackets...they don't look even close to fitting. There has to be others that have intalled these new cables in an AD??
BTW, what's the name of the color on your panel? That looks very close to the color my dad first painted my '51 GMC back in high school.

| | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | On the frame brackets you gotta take a wedge I used a big screwdriver and nice and easy drove it into the slot to widen the hole till the new cable fit into it than installed the cable end so it was flush with the bracket.
The part that goes into the brake plate will fit it does not look like it but once you get it in place and start the bolts it will pull the cable into alignment with the em. brake lever I looked at it for some time to when I did mine on my 52-3100.

I do not have any pics but now you don't need them. Since its getting cold I would not want to BANG on the bracket to much with a 10lb hammer or it might pop?? But then you should not need much. I did the same a Pete. I think I may have missed understood the question as well.
The color on my panel is 2006 Mitsubishi "Bizen Sunset Orange". It will look a little different once back in the sunlight. One of those cars pulled up beside me at a redlight, back Dec.05, and I said "I like that color". I don'tthink it looks exactly the same but few ever come out like we expect. One day, soon I hope, I will be able to pull up beside a Mitsubishi and see!
