I’m under my 66C10 putting new spring clamps on the coil springs and I was wondering if I could just change the rear springs out and have a C20 . What would I need to do to change it from ½ to ¾ ton.? Has this been done before?... I want to put a camper on it and do some camping in the Summer so having greater load capacity would really be wonderful.

Any help answering this would be great!

The frames, springs, axles, wheels and tires are just some of the things that are beefed up to make a truck a C20. Changing the springs will just make your 1/2 ton ride rougher, it won't safely add any hauling capacity, sorry,

48 is right. One of the resons I buy 3/4 tons is brakes. Having driven a 63 C20 with an overhead camper for many years. I would not recommend a big camper on a C10. There have been a couple of times if I hadn't had my eyes open even the C20 brakes wouldn't of been good enough. I'm going disk this coming year.
