Go to Mar-Ks website, they did testing on quite a few different combinations of stains, clear cote, black, clear, etc. The best results were 3 coats of POR-15 black with 3 coats of Baehr (UV inhibiting black enamel paint) After 3 years all of the clear coats were coming apart but the black combo was still going strong. I just did my pine with Chasis saver satin black 3 coats, and am getting ready to do the UV inhibiting baehr from home depot. Then install with polished Stainless steel hardware and rails. I think it is going to look great and hold up as well. Kieth
ps I bought my wood locally for $56.00, did the dido work myself, saved a lot of money...
Tell you what I did: Black rustoleum semi-gloss from a can with a roller on the wood and black semi-gloss from a spray can on the rails. I wanted it to look a factory effort. curt
