Hey Guys,

Does anyone know the original price of a 1951 half-ton? My truck is finally finished, after 6 years and is entered in a show here in Houston at Thanksgiving. I don't have the salesman's books that would give me this info.
Thanks,
Mark

In order to get you a close price it would be helpful to know what options are on it. Mirrors, heater, cab (deluxe or standard) while it may not seem like much these options were porportionaly expensive for their time. I have a 1951 Dealer price list and the 1951 data book if you can provide a bit more detail.

Brad,
Sorry about that.
Here is what we have: Standard cab, Long running boards and rear fenders, rear view mirrors and brackets, (inside and right side),oil bath air cleaner, rear chrome bumper, Oil filter, dual tail and stop light, front chrome bumper, spare wheel and carrier, chrome radiator grille, and heater, but it's not the fresh air heater.
Thanks for the help.

Someone over there might know... someone here on the 'Bolt knows as well, I'm sure... they just haven't been in to check messages lately.

Here are the advertised prices for 1954; but, that's not what you need. Classic Parts (and probably others) also sells the 1953 price list.

Ok here is the breakdown on your truck from what you provided this will be pretty close. The pictures you see are my source material. The pricing book was hand updated by a salesman to reflect the 1951 prices on 1/19/1951:

3104-1/2 ton truck=$1528.05
Local Charge=$59.00
Freight=$178.50
Accessories/options are installed price:
Small Oil Bath=$3.65
Oil Filter=$10.40
Chrome Grill=$10.40
Mirror Short RH=$3.40
Bumpers (not listed anywhere as a charge).
Mirror inside=$4.55
Heater (recirculating)=$39.80
Spare tire carrier not listed
Tail lamp RH=$6.75

If my math is right a pretty close estimate on your truck is out the door at $1844.50

Chrome grills were available in 1951. They were not available in 1952-53 (no chrome/bright-work hub caps, bumpers, grille, radio speaker horizontal trim, glovebox door, etc in 52-53).

Brad,

Thank you very much for this information. This will appear on a large "window stick" for the show in front of my truck. It's interesting that the date is 1/19/51. My truck was a January build.
I hope I can return the favor someday.

What does a window sticker look like from a 1951 AD Truck?

How are you going to replicate it?

Sounds like a good idea

Thanks

What is meant by long running boards ? I know the flatbed trucks had shorter running boards.

Dads50k and Bowtietim,

This "window sticker" is only for a show. I believe that it will be on a poster board in front of the truck.
The "long running boards and rear fenders" was an RPO that I found in a catolog for Chevy trucks ID Numbers 1946-1972. I guess it's just for the pick-ups and not the flat beds.
