For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 47 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 47 | Hello everyone, finaly to the point of buying tires and wheels for my '58 2 ton. I would like to buy american made tires and wheels (is that possible?) from a good quality dealer. While I am on a budget like most everyone else, service and quality are a higher priority than price alone. Can anyone recommend a good tire dealer that handles tires for big bolts near the St.Louis area or in Southeast Missouri??

I'm in St. Louis. You can buy tires at Froesel tire on Manchester Road (in Brentwood, I think), but they won't be american made, and they won't look like the old tires. The Highway treads are ok looking, but the snow and muds just don't look like the originals, sadly.
As for wheels, nobody that I know of or have ever heard of offers new wheels for these trucks. You're probably stuck with getting the old ones blasted and painted, then finding someone to mount the new tires on the old rims, which is difficult at best. Easier in rural areas.
Let me know if I can be of more help - if you're close, I'd love to see your truck!

They sell all kinds at I-net prices amd have affordable freight rates. Of course you can go to any Firestone or Goodyear store too but that doesn't mean the tires are from Akron. Frankly some of the best tires are now Japanese brands. Tucker probably has the wheels too. I've bought tractor tires from them and was very pleased with the price and service. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,963 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,963 | Your best bet for finding tires for an old 2 ton is at a rural dealer in a farming area. I have bought quite a few tires from these guys. http://www.nebraskatire.com/truck/overstocks.htm Freight is not as much as you might think. I'm sure there are similar dealers up I55 in IL. | | |
