YOu don't by chance have a width on it do you? | | | | Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 292 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 292 | yes it is 55 1/4 backing plate to backing plate and has 2.73 gears | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 60 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 60 | I used a 93 caprice rear end under my 55 cameo. 3.08 posi running a 261 with TBI and T5 transmisson worked great. | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 188 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 188 | I learned to never measure from backing plate to backing plate. Measure from wheel mounting surface instead. Some rearends have wider brake drums. In your example of a 79 caprice you might find a 2" difference in widths depending on original equipment. Some higher end cars got the bigger brakes. Something to watch for. | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 15 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 15 | I know the rearend from an 84 Caprice fits, my 52 has the complete frame from the 84 Caprice under it with frame mods. Worked really well. | | |
