on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 6 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 6 | Hi guys, I am as green as they get as far as working on vehichles or restoring goes, so appreciate any tips you have for me. I am in sunny San Diego and just found this great old gal. A 1953 3600 3/4 ton with a 235 and couldnt pass it up. I was able to drive her home and besides being geared way too low I was surprised on how well she tracked and felt. There is some knocking here and there but actually got it for a project to work on with my dad so expected to dig into the engine. It is mostly original other than the 235 that was put in. I was thinking of adding duel exhaust and duel carborators if you have any advise. I also am trying to replace the wing windows but the hinge is connected to the window frame with something other than a screw, any idea on what I have to do to remove the old and reconnect the new ones. I look forward to getting my hands dirty. I am wanting to do a paint job though not sure if I have it in me to do a full frame off restoration. It was originally orange then somone painted it green and now it has been primer for the last 15 years. If anyone knows how to get two original 3600 hood emblems I would love to know. Thanks 53 chevy 3/4 ton My 1953 chevy 3600 3/4 ton 235 engine

I think, not sure, that the vent windows are held in by the rubber around them. I know someone one here knows so they will correct me if I'm wrong. As for the two carbs., and exhaust I think I would probably get the engine in top shape first. Just my opinion. Take your time and enjoy the project with your Dad. Sure wish mine was here to help me. My dad is in his 70's so have to take the time while I have him healthy. He is the kind of guy that can fix anything (though it doesn't always look the prettiest :)). I haven't worked on a car with him in over 35 years so am pretty excited. The wing window has a rod through the bottom and a flange on the front side about 3/4 the way up that it pivots on and there is a pin that runs through the flange which looks like it is a solid pin and didn't know if I have to drill it out and find another solution to hold it. It looks like you have a good shop set up and are doing yours right. The clearance lights on the fenders for turn signals is an interesting touch!
