Well folks, the old girl finally gave it up.The engine I have had so much trouble with(216 that won't run without choke, many posts)has bought the farm. I had trailered it to a mechanic for repair who promptly gave up on it and told me to come after it cause he could do no more. After getting it home I unloaded it and managed to get it to run for a bit. I took her down the road for a little spin and all of a sudden I had an engine brake! I had valves dropping like rain,and pistons cracking like egg shells and a sudden and unexpected seizure of all movable engine parts (she blew up).I was a bit mortified but not totally surprised.I am going to do an engine transplant with a mid seventies 250. Other than the length of the engine can anyone warn me of other problems that might occur?This engine sat idle for more than 30 years so other than the 200.00 in parts to get her running albeit for a short time it was a learning experience.Also by the way I have a new water pump, vacuum advance, fuel pump for a 216 engine that I will make someone a real deal on.I am sure I will be back with more questions in the future.

Sorry about your engine. I've got a 50-3/4t with a 250 and auto. I had to build brackets for the motor mounts, and a trans bracket. Also used a gas pedal and cable linkage from a 80's chevy, other than that it was a simple swap.
