Hi , Remember me having trouble dissconnecting trunnion uni, Well i shifted axle back until drive shaft came clear. removed gearbox and disasembled. main trouble was loud knocking. Found Ballbearing had been been picked up and gone through cluster gear, taking hunk off tooth and pushing out of shape.causing the knocking on backside ofdamaged tooth.Had tooth patched up at polytech welding class.replaced bearings, put everthing back in.hooked up driveshaft, started up.Bugger noise still there;.so after a day off, pulled everthing out again, gearbox on bench, found tooth a little out of shape,a little hard spot. so spent a couple of hours grinding and cleaning with emery paper ,till coundnt feel any hard spots.back in for 2nd time slid axle up connected driveshaft, bolted trunnion ball hooked up U bolts brakeline at diff handbrake cable .Crossmember etc,Battery ,gritted my teeth, started er up,Silence sweetas. not good as new,but heaps better than before, cheers Kevin Johnson.

Cool Kevin. Necessity is the mother of invention. Have you tried looking for a replacement gear?

That is quite amazing and congratulations on your success! I don't think today's machinery will be repaired like that. We are lucky that they still use some steel!

Great stuff Kevin. Well done mate. I've got a few gears from the 4 speed in the shed. Let me know if you need a replacement and I'll have a look for you.

Cheers

Bob

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
