I drove my C20 1964 292 engine for the first time in the night. Everything was fine for about 10 miles then my dash light when out. I still had my headlights so I thought I was O.K.
The next day I start looking at the problem and come to find out I also had no rear lights, but my turn signals work. So first thing I look at the fuse panel and I find a blown fuse. Now, I change the fuse and everything works.
Here is the puzzling part! If I idle everything is fine but the moment I drive off the fuse blows. The fuse blows when I have my headlights on.

O.K. elecrical problems are so f*****ing strange.
I tried removing the headlight switch but I did not have the tool for the bezel ( anyone known what to use) then I started looking at wiring that the PO had sliced , taped etc..
Started the truck went for a ride and viola no problems.
Hey guys what is the different between the $20.00 voltage regulator and the $90.00 one. I would avoid it. Check your local autoparts store for options and ask for US made replacements.

You turn it all the way to the left, push the button and hold it and then pull the headlights on and the knob with shaft comes out of the switch. When you find that button (it is small) and consists of a metal cap with a spring around it, you should be able to get it out fairly easy.

DO you know if the fuse is the right size or are you putting in too small a fuse?

I beleive the fuse to be 15 amps as this is the one I replaced
Interesting with the headlights, but the fuse blows when I have the headlights on.
At the present moment I believe everything to be O.K. I worked on some wires and after that I ran the same situation and nothing happened.
I do hope I fixed it, time will tell.

Well, the problem came back. I decided to replace the taillight, frame,headlight,and front harness,also my headlight switch and dimmer switch.After all this I only got my taillights to work. I trouble shoot and trouble shoot, nothing. I thought since I had replaced almost everything it was O.K.
Wrong, the culpit the headlight switch defected. It was my second one. | | |
