I have a 63 chevy truck 1/2 ton 2wd. Ive had it for about 4 years. I traded a 92 s-10 for it. When I got it the motor was bad and it had a 3 speed manual trans. I built a mild 350 and rebuilt a turbo 350 for it. I enjoy driving it so much I may it my daily driver. It still needs alot of work but it has been a slow resto. Nothing but fun with it and hopefully about 2 more years till she is 100%. Pictures soon (once i figure out how to post them), not very computer smart.

Welcome to the bolt bumpnutz. Not sure about you but I had rather work on Stovebolts than computers any day! Good luck on your project. Sounds like a plan to me. Let us know how we can help....say, how close to S.C. are you? Lots of car/truck stuff around here in Spartanburg.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Here is a couple of pics of my 63. Pictures are a year old. The rust on the passenger door is fixed, installed bucket seat from a 2003 chevy truck so i could put my son in it with me. I took the bed off to start on the frame in the back. I sold the bed to a friend with a 64 and currently looking for a step side.

Hey Achipmunk, im currently deployed but I am stationed in Savannah, GA. Decent parts for oldies are hard to come by here so I know im going to have to venture out. I dont mind driving for a good deal.

Thre are still some good trucks out there. Just tonight a lady told me about her husbands 64 that is for sale. It has a 350 engine and from what she says may have had the stepside bed changed for a fleetside?
So, there are parts around. I'm even considering looking at the above truck. They are asking $2500 but without seeing it you just never know.

I have a son in law being deployed to Aftgan Oct.12 from Fort Polk. When you get back let me know if I can help with anything and as always....a hot dog and Pepsi is waiting if you stop by sometime.
