WD-40 or other penetrating oil sprayed into both ends?
Soak the entire cable assembly in a solvent?

It is amazing stuff. It will creep and break the molecular bond that has "fused" the two parts together. The gunsmiths turned me on to it. They use it to free rusted screws in antique guns.
