Took it for it's first ride and seem to have a lot of play in the front end. Installed 3 1/2 inch drop axel removed 2 springs out of eight had wheels balanced and an alignment. When i hit a bump the front end wonders all over tried to adjust the steering box and made no difference. could be "bump steer".
i see you have a dropped front axle.
your drag link needs to be parallel to the frame.
i have a 3 inch dropped axle and 1 leaf removed in my 57, with original steering box and leaf spring bushings, and it runs perfect at 80mph.
a few other guys will chime in here before too long also.

Sounds like a geometry problem. Look at the drag link like Leonard said, if its not parallel or darn close, that will produce bump steer.
