howdy...
i have been lurking this site for some time and finally decided to register because there is so much collective knowledge.

i recently began my first restoration project. it is a 1934 canadian gmc 1.5 ton dually that was built in regina, saskatchewan (for the most part it is identical to a chevy). it is currently stripped to the frame with only the front end...steering sector and rear differential still attached. all body panels (some rusted areas) are at the body shop and are coming together beautifully. since the wood was so bad it will need all new wood including the doors...engine (207) is in the process of rebuild and i am going to go w/ the babbit bearings.

so far it has been a pleasure to work on...i call the project my "finger puzzle" because it is such a mental challenge.

i will be visiting often because i enjoy reading about others projects and utilizing the search feature.

i am not building my own wood...i am pretty handy but not w/ intricate cabinetry...soon i will order a kit from one of the after market vendors...there seem to be two or three out there is there a consensus as to who produces the best kit...??

i will post some pics soon i have to figure out how to do that...i am a little computer challenged...but will figure it out...thanks for the hello...

A lot of us wouldn't have the knowledge of these fine old beasts if it were'nt for this place!

couloir1, I believe there is a link here on the bolt to a place that makes wood kits. I think one is somewhere in Kansasa????

Post that question in the paint and body and I'll bet you'll have an answer shortly. I'm not the best at doing searches but one might turn up a post here about them. Hasn't been that long since I remember reading a few.

Hi Ron, welcome to the site. You're correct, the Canadian GMCs came with Chevy engines, although I'm not certain how far back that went. You say it's been a pleasure working on it sofar. Hopefully that doesn't change, some days are not too pleasureful. Good luck.

Welcome to the Bolt couloir1. Thats a great year of truck to be working on. Not as easy as some though. My is a Chevrolet. There is alot of infomation here. I have got my frame ready to add parts back on.

thanks for the welcome grizz...i hope to have pictures up soon...you're right the 34's are a challenge but i think the most classic looking...i'm right behind you on the frame...i currently have the front axle disassembled and found out the axle ends where the king pins mount the spindles is worn out...if it's not one thing it is another...now i am looking for a front axle that is rebuildable...wish me luck...
