Hello,
I recently bought a 1948 Chevrolet 1.5 ton dualie. Was used as a farm truck it's whole life. Short story - was bought new for use on a farm in South Georgia to haul a huge water tank around. Family got on the wrong side of the IRS and the 2nd owner bought it at auction two years ago and did nothing with it, I bought it in April 2010. The truck is remarkably in good shape other than brakes. She has no bed but the cab is amazingly rust free and that is unusual for this part of the country... Needs door glass and other minor items. When I got it it was not running and the rears were locked up and the guy moved it around with a forklift on the back to get the dualies off the ground...
I'd like to share mechanical tips on this truck, have been a wrencher since I could hold one, dad and granddad had a garage/gas station in the 30's. 40' and 50's...
Need to get together about where to buy parts especially brake parts for this big truck.

Hi Motoswiz, firstly welcome to the 'bolt.
Nice score with the truck,it looks pretty solid.
It looks like the Georgia climate hasn't been too cruel to it!

You should call in at the 'Big Bolt' section of the forum, the guys there will make ya feel right at home!
Plus they'll give you the advice you need re; the brakes etc.
Good luck with your new 'toy'.

Welcome to Stovebolt. Great folks and lots of knowledge floating around here.
Sure looks like you have a nice striaght truck. Thanks for the pics and like the other guys said. Post questions in the most appropiate forum for lots of good information. Not everyone visits her in the Welcome Center.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
