Hey guys, I now have my gas lines and new gas tank installed on my 52 Panel. My question is what have you guys used to connect the filler neck to the neck coming out of the tank. Its 2 1/4" and I was wondering about a piece of radiator hose.

The aftermarket ones that I checked on are about $15 plus shipping. What are they made out of????
Because, either mine is Rock Hard or there is some sort of "metal" in it.

Comments please. Thanks

NOT rad hose, there's special hose for fuel fill fittings, made by Gates [at least] it is quite stiff stuff - should be able to find it at a local place

Thanks squeeze. At $25 a foot 3" should cost about $8 if they will sell me that little bit....which I sort of doubt. I'll also check with Advance. I get a discount there but I do have a new Oreilly's just opened.

my local NAPA has it in appropriate short lengths, I got one for my 57 off the shelf that was about 6" I think - don't recall the price, but what's a few bucks when that sort of safety is the issue

I bought it at O'Reilly cut to length.

Just came back from O'Rielly's and here they won't cut it. Wanted me to buy a two foot piece for $25 a foot. I told them I'd move on down to NAPA! Advance didn't have it but could get it in long lengths.
JimCarter is $15 for the little piece I need plus shipping. If NAPA don't want to cut me a short piece then I'll wait until I go to Kansas and pick me up one at Jim's. Its only a month away and the panel isn't going anywhere before then... I don't think smile

Well I wasn't going to pay O'Rielly's $25 a foot so I went to NAPA. They would not "cut to length" but they said they would sell me a piece at $18 a foot. I ask for a discount, through my nephews shop, and the total price was $14.27 for a foot including tax.

So, Weeds, Czechman, or anyone else needing a short piece of 2 1/4" gas tank fuel filler connection for their Panel or Burb I have enough to make about 3 more. Let me know and I'll make you a real deal!! smile

Oh, I couldn't help but laugh when I walked in. Jacob saw me coming in and the first thing he said was "need a fuel connecting hose" huh. Now thats a parts man!!

Found a reasonable source for filler hose for my '52. Apparently, the Corvair used 1 3/8" I.D. hose.

This guy sell about a 4" piece for $4.95 plus $5 shipping. Here's a link to his ebay store where you can search for "filler hose".
