I have a question about my rear leaf springs on my 46 half ton.I am planing on taking them apart ,blasting them and then using poly liners between the leafs like I did on the front.But I noticed there are 10 leafs in the spring pack,from everything I have read there should only be 7 or 8 leafs.They are the 1 - 3/4 wide like they should be but why would I have 10 leafs?

Often leaves were added to the truck to carry more weight. You can often tell which ones have been added. They usually are square on the ends & while the original have a bevel. Sometimes the length doesn't seem right.

When I was in high school I had a '54, 1/2 ton. The truck was lower in the front on the driver's side. My friend who had been an auto mechanic since 1919 told me that was from wear & tear and the truck almost always being driven without a passenger...maybe. Anyway he told me I could take the almost flat spring off, take it apart, try to re-arc the leaves in my vice and add an extra leaf...one of the smaller ones. I did all that and it worked.

lightflyer1, my truck never looked as good as your's! Mine was a rust bucket but mechanically great. I wish I had still had it.
