Trying to decipher exactly what engine my truck came with, I know (think?) it's from something in the mid seventies. Anyone good at interpreting the casting numbers? See photos and let me know what I've got. It's an L6.

It looks like a 250.

Hoping for a link to a decoder to verify size, date, etc.

The 348675 casting is one of many used for 250 engines w/o the integral intake according to the Chevy Inline Six Power Manual.
I don't know of a link, sorry.

If you can find the engine serial number on a raised area near the distributor,ex. "F0118JA" you can go to this site, http://no25.chuckthetruck.com/index.html (use page 3} and look for the last letters in the engine serial number, ex "JA" and see the year and application it was built for. Or if you just list that serial number here someone can probably help.

I had seen that page, and have now found the engine SN. But mine is like the one you listed - F0###00T (or maybe F0###CCT). But the "F-" only shows for 66-67 Olds F-85, doesn't seem right based on being told that it was from a mid-late 70's with an HEI ignition.

Basic misunderstanding happening here. The first letter in the engine serial number indicates the production plant. So "F" stands for "Flint". The next two numbers are usually the month of production, the next 2 numbers the day of the month and finally the last one, two, or three letters indicate the engine application.
The list at the chuckthetruck site is only using the engine app
letters at the end of the serial numbers, so try to accurately determine your letters at the end of your serial number and search the 70' years at that site.

That says 250 out of a 71 truck with a turbo 350 behind it.

Thanks, that helps a lot. However, I still don't find CCT (last 3 digits), but at least it fits the format and at the top of the page it says it is not a complete listing. Seems pretty clearly a 250, and casting no's would indicate a late 76 model vehicle. Any further information would purely academic at this point, so unless someone likes playing detective, I've got what I need.

I think these decode as (someone will correct me - I could be way off):
F = Flint MI
12 = December
26 = 26th
H = engine size and application (maybe someone knows)

Here are locations for codes on many high-pressure 235/261 engines
The head and block date casting codes will help in the IDing.

The "H" decodes as a 62'-63' 194 passenger app at the chuckthetruck site I previously mentioned. It also decodes as a 57' 235 at this site, http://www.chevytrucks.org/mikesgarage/1957.htm
You need to compare your block casting no. with the list at the Inliners site given previously in this topic to further confirm your engine size and app.
