'69 1/2T stepside, Sea Foam Green, 250 L6 w/ 3 on the tree, not an option on it, in the family since new.
| | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 5,208 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 5,208 | No dyno chart, but according to calculators, mine is making about 150hp at the flywheel and 125 or so at the ground using dragstrip time sheets. This just what a stock engine should make.
I am using a 3.08 rear axle with a T350 trans and stock 250 engine. My truck weighs 3350 with me in it. I changed from a 3.42 due to highway rpm. I losts some low speed torque, but I gained out on the road. I drive 65 to 70 most of the time so it was a good trade. Rear tires are 235/75 R15 radials.

Like you I'm also running a TH350. I'll actually be on side streets more often than not so I was even thinking something lower, like a 2.73 or along the lines of the 3.08 like you've got. So you're running around 2600 at highway speeds? Not too buzzy? A 2.73 would put me around 2300.
ETA - PS Like your truck. Pretty much what I'm going for - period correct looking, but with modern driving comfort.

If I remember when I'm home from school this weekend, I'll scan it and upload it to webshots. Its just the right rpm, has plenty more for passing and enough torque to hold steady speed.
I wouldn't go any lower then a 3.08, I can't imagine how doggy that 2.41 is. Mine is bad enough with a 3.08 compared to the 3.42!!!
