I'm utterly confused at what they're for and the linkages that these replaced didn't have them so it didn't really help me. Do they go inside the brake assembly or outside or? The linkages seem to hook up like they should except for this one part.
Thanks a bunch for helping out one who is still a beginner no matter how long it has taken me on this project... :p | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/1929_54chevyparts/04/304.HTMAre you referring to the where each cable passes through the brake shoe backing plate to connect the brake shoe? As Woody posted, words often fail but photos make it clear what parts you are referring to. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | MMMmmm, if you bought the emergency brake cable one end of it has a "bracket" that bolts to the back side of the backing plate and the other end will go to and through an "arm" that is riveted to the side of the chassis and has one bolt through it to hold it from moving....then the very end of the emergency brake cable will fasten to a "bracket" that goes on the outside end of the emergency brake cross member and a bolt goes throught that bracket to hold it to the crossmember while the cable is put through the bracket so you can adjust it....Whew!!
Like the other bolters suggest. Get a shop manual, or use the one on line, and also a factory assembly manual. Good luck. | | |
