New Napa filter ia 4" diameter and the old one was 4.5" (WIX-51100). The old one fit flush in the canister....while the new Napa one has at least 1/4" space from the sidewall. Was the wrong filter in there to begin with??

Wix makes Napa & Carquest filters & the numbers are the same except the first number. It may have been boxed wrong. The original equipment fiter is AC. It uses a 5/8 wrench on the cover bolt. The aftermarket filter was Fram. It uses a 7/8 wrench on the cover bolt. Sometimes this causes confusion at the parts counter as they take different cartridges.

well looks like it should be the Fram, cause it has the 7/8 cover bolt. What's the correct part number for the Fram?

What's the best brand of TP to use for an oil filter? I can't find the fram C4 anywhere around here in the parts stores.

However, I am quite certain that I removed a FRAM filter and replaced it with the same.
My concern is that I've heard that it requires more oil pressure for pushing oil through the larger diameter filter and in my engine I want to maintain max pressure to my bearing surfaces. Am I possibly loosing additional pressure by running the Fram filter in the A/C pot? I've also been advised that plugging the filter (bypassing it) will give me 5-10 pounds additional pressure. At this point with my engine of unknown internal condition, I'd like to get some recommendations as to which way to go. I'm sure that there are others that are "between" complete rebuilds, who would appreciate some expert advice. Thanks in advance. | | |

Do big trucks use paper towels? Do people hang their extra Rolls(Royce) from the longhorn hood ornaments? They can TP a neighborhood pretty fast that way...both sides of the street if they drive down the middle of the dirt road topped out at 45 mph! Cheers, Rich | | |
