I was wondering how you can diassemble the healight switch? I've heard its this internal pin type and there is a button?
Also I switched to a 1 wire alternator and now have no lights. Where to hook up the main power for the lights? This truck was lightly vandalized before I got it. It is chassis cab and had a huge flatbed on it. I put a regular one on. It has a 283 2bbl, SM420 tailshaft brake, and 5.14 in the back, dually.

It's been a while, but there is a button somewhere on the switch itself. Pull the knob all the way out, as like you are putting the headlights on, then press the button from under the dash, then pull the knob assembly out.

Ok, got it working now.
This truck was bought new for a Tree service, and was sold in 1979 to a landscape company, then sold to a machinst, and then to me. This truck has 48K original miles. All reciepts of parts ('64-'05) were in the glovebox since I got it. Apparently someone was planning on pulling the engine at the machinist's. All wiring was unplugged or cut.
Does anyone know how to adjust the tailshaft Parking brake on these? I also got a PTO setup on this. When I get it installed, is the box on the trans all I need? What gear do I put it in to drive it?

To operate the PTO you engage the clutch, engage the PTO, release the clutch. The PTO will be turning/operating. The PTO will work in any gear but I generally use it in neutral or at low speed.

Here's a link to 60-66 wiring diagrams, unfortunately the 64 isn't there. The 65 wiring diagrams are there, and should help.

Factory manuals are available repo. You need the 63, and 64 supplement. Check the links.

Welcome aboard!

Ok, got the wiring figured out now. How do I adjust the parking brake on the tailshaft? It will not work all the way back. Any suggestions?

hopefully no vandals crawled under it to do anything with the parking brake. if it just won't click might make sure teeth are clean and everything is lined up. if it will click but not hold there is a adjustment on the band, or might see if the lining is still even in there to hold. good luck.
