It folds down when not in use. Roberts motor parts have them. Part # T162 for $26.50 each plus shipping. Phone # 978-363-5407. I hope this helps other bolters. This is for side open hoods. Mine is a 46.

From the looks of it they supply parts from about 1928 to 1956, so it might be a gamble to buy one, think I would talk to them on the phone first to be sure, as you may order one and then not be able to figure out how it works for your application anyways!

Rubber tip goes to the " knee joint " between top and side hoods. I have seen a couple of different versions, including home made. Would take the stress off the back corner of the side hood when open ( resting on firewall ) | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 215 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 215 | Kind of hard to tell looking at the website but these people are actually dodge and plymouth/chrysler suppliers. Not to mean you can't use those parts, but they don't specify GM anywhere. | | | | Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 54 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 54 | Mine work real nice. Just bolt them on about the center of the rod from the firewall to the radiator and it holds the hood without danger of damage to the hood or inconvenience while working.
