wanting to have the 5x4.75 lug pattern and it will be narrower than my current rear housing that out of a 1980 1/2 ton chevy truck. this way i can run wider rear wheels and more wheel choices.
so the question is, will my drive shaft be a direct bolt in to the s-10 rear yoke ?

leonard | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 | About three things come to mind. Is the rear end wide enough to bolt in and do what you want? Measure carefully. Is the lug bolt pattern 5 on 4.75 or metric? Are the lug nuts metric threads.
You need to look at if and see if the rear end of the drive shaft is the same as yours.

Most likely not but if you have anyone close that does drive shafts, they can change it for you. Check the local driveline shops, they may be able to tell you what you need.

although the s-10 rear i am inquiring about is a 200-, i got out my calipers and measured my 2003 s-10's yoke. then measured my 57's yoke thats the 1980 rear housing. believe it or not, my 2003 s-10's yoke width is right at .400" narrower then the s-10's yoke. i would have thought it to be the other way around. even the round diameter of the cups on the s-10 is .050" bigger then the 1980 rear in the 57.
width wise the s-10 rear is 10" narrower then my current rear, so im thinking i might need to stick to a car rear like something out of an early chevelle, camaro or nova.
