For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 | guys, i might have a line on a 2000 s-10 rear housing i want to install in my 57. wanting to have the 5x4.75 lug pattern and it will be narrower than my current rear housing that out of a 1980 1/2 ton chevy truck. this way i can run wider rear wheels and more wheel choices.
so the question is, will my drive shaft be a direct bolt in to the s-10 rear yoke ?
thanks much.

Measure carefully. Is the lug bolt pattern 5 on 4.75 or metric? Are the lug nuts metric threads. You need to look at if and see if the rear end of the drive shaft is the same as yours.

Most likely not but if you have anyone close that does drive shafts, they can change it for you. Usually under $150.00 - at least around here. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 | You may only need an adapting U-joint to go between them, if the shaft length is right. Check the local driveline shops, they may be able to tell you what you need.
Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice) \'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run. My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but ignorance means you don't know you can't do something.

thanks again guys. if anyone has swapped a car rear into their task force truck, please chime in and let me knwo what axle you used.
