My 52 has this bolt head style that I havn't seen before. They hold on everything from the rear fenders to dash board componants. The head of these fasteners looks like a bat or butterfly. They are insert type bolt and screws like allen heads.
I can get pictures, no problem.
And these are holding up the whole process of breakdown to begin the restoration.

They are called Clutch Head bolts. Drivers should be available at your local tools supplier.

they do make clutch "speed bits" to use in screw guns, standard hex base, all you have to do is have a socket to fit those and you're in

thats what I figured the case would be becasue I'v never seen the bits like I was talking about.

I just hate using speed bits becasue when your on your back or twisted up under the dash and the ratchet turns the wrong way, the bit falls out, then you have to unfold out from under where ever and find the bit and try to get it to stay in while you get back folded up.lol

A tip::::::: Whenever im working up under my dash, i usually remove the bottom seat cushion, and then toss a chaise lounge cushion,or a few pillows on the floor of the truck.
Try It. Your back will thank you.

If you cant keep the bits in use tape ! Also the sockets with bits in them can be changed easy toother types .

good idea D54Pan . I think we have some old cushions around.

The seat is no prob for me at the momonet cuz the truck is missing the entire seat frame.

But being 6'3'' is my biggest limit for small places. no fix for that, grandpa said he'd put a brick on my head to keep me from gettin taller, didn't work out.....but now my head is really flat and I can rest my drink on top when working
