How many of you do not have their original engines and wish they did?

I thought of an idea of tracking down our original engines for our trucks that do not have them. What if all of us who still have our original titles with the original engine numbers on them posted the number here and see if by some strange chance, someone here may have it in their truck now?
or vise versa, post the number from your non original engine and see if the truck it came out of is still around.
I think it will be kind of cool to see if this works.
My GMC engine number on my title reads:
24830729

The number from the engine in it now reads:248240236

It might be worth a shot

When trucks of that size were repowered, that meant the original one was junk. And people weren't very sentimental about junk in those days.

Ditto that!
The engine in my truck was put in by a couple farmers with a welder and a torch. They had one objective--get the truck back on the road so they could haul corn with it!

I've heard of some guys that found a rare big block from the muscle car days and using the engine numbers to then locate the car. However these old truck motors once jerked out are just junk and in the way also a couple years back with scrap iron prices through the roof, people cashed in.

You could always stamp your old number on another motor.

Far as I can tell my original is still under the hood. The numbers still seem to match my truck from what I can tell.

Several years ago I bought a 409 that had been pulled from a truck and thrown out behind a shop.I then had to buy a 63 Impala for my wife, so I'd have a place for the motor.

Don't know what happened to mine but it has a later car motor under the hood. I did find another '54 235 out of a panel wagon, but couldn't get the guy to part with it even though the wagon was sitting on another chassis.

I gave mine to a guy in exchange for him pulling it and hauling it away. It now resides in his '51. I'm not sure I did the right thing.
