I always wonder why repop parts often don't fit like the original. First attempt, windland "Made in Thailand" loose in tracks on cab, kept falling out during install. Second windlace "CounterParts" seemed very quality but very inflexible, couldn't get to fit in the corners. Third purchase came from Classic Parts, fits right, went in without much difficulty.

I adjusted the tracks in the cab with homemade tool and lubricated with soapy water. Once I got a repop windlace like the original (but black), this job was almost fun.

Yes ,The Car Truck shop in Orange California,they carry some of the best window parts I've used.The wiskers are bent to fit right and there windlace is very good.

I've talked with the people at Steele, read articles about their plant, I may end up buying something from them.

This '54 is not a restoration, it's going to be a very good "driver". I'm trying not to put toooo much time and money into it. At times it difficult to decide where to put my limited resourses. I love this truck and want it to be as good as it can be. I'll check out the Car Truck Shop.

.....I like Steele Rubber products myself and have turned to them many times when the cheap stuff just would not work right.
BUT, we all know that even the best vendors buy from other vendors. I say this because Steele does NOT make all its own rubber products. I have been to their place twice over the past year and heard for myself when an employeed volunteered that a piece my friend was buying was made by Dennis Carpenter. Capenter is a vendor in Charlotte that does mostly Ford stuff.
Soooo, beware when buying stuff from ANYONE. It is not always what you think...... But I must confess, Steele's rubber vent window stuff and some other items were MUCH better than a cheap set I had bought (and still have). They are nice folks and the visit there was good.
All this is just info and to keep you thinking!

I purchased my door windlace from Classic chevy, had to use WD40 to lube it up soap just didn't do the trick. Installed ok, I guess, very nice fit and seals door well.

I agree but I hate their website. Very difficult to browse through.

On Steele Rubber's website homepage, type the model year in the Year: box; then, select Chevy & GMC Trucks in the Make: box; then press Search and you have a complete listing for that year. Just scroll down (it is easier to look at pictures than to search for a part by a name for which most people would not know the correct name/word).

Jim Carter's search does not seem to work.

Chevs of the 40s search has gotten better.

Classic Parts search is OK.

American Classic's search is pretty good.

LMC is OK - from their homepage, set up for your year and search on "windlace" (the word used by most people, above) - "wind lace" works, however

Brothers - you have to look around to find "windlace"

No doubt! Particularly after age 55.

I hope this isn't too far off-topic, but has anyone ordered a custom-cab (the one with the stainless, or chrome, trim) back window rubber set?

Who makes the best one, has the best price, etc.??

I haven't but, just to let you know, that wasn't included in the custom cab option. That is an aftermarket custom product.
