Hi Folks,
just bought a 58 Suburban as my fun alternative to a mini van. Not my first classic car to fix with but my first real truck that Ive been driving and fixing.
She is in pretty ok state rust wise, she is a California car from Sacramento so she is well baked from the sun and has the "desert" surface rust all over. Its now full speed a head to get a coat of paint on her before the English weather kills her.
Sorry to say there is a few things missing, that i really need
help with!! Its the tailgate handle/mechanism and the right/passenger side "door" latch for the tailgate as well as the "straps" that will hold the tailgate when lowered. It looks like someone been taking parts from my tailgate

Ah while she is inspected and past the road safety test which pretty comprehensive here in the UK she is still not that stable on the road. She basically swaying so you need to correct her all the time. Never dealt with a car with leaf springs and live axles all around so my question would be what is the most likely cause for it?
Ah yes have a 59 Shortbed Delux fleetside too but thats a different story and a long term resto project...
