on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 217 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 217 | I have a Campbell Hausfield MIG welder, it has been working very well for me with Flux Core but, today I thought if it works this well with Flux Core imagine how well it would work with gas. Man, was I disappointed. I went to the local welding supply and they set me up with some C25 and .030 wire. I set the welder up as directed in the manual and began welding. I tried every adjustment on the machine with no luck. It was EXTREMELY disappointing. I switched back to Flux Core and wonder why I even wasted the time or the money.
The main issues I had was poor penetration and weld beading up. It would often leave a big bead on the end of my wire. There was no bacon sizzle noise and often sounded like arcing.
Does anyone have any suggestions? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 | As part of the setup you switch the leads for the gun and ground. I recently forgot to do that and ended up with exactly what describe.

When you get it right you'll love it. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 388 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 388 | In my Hobart 140 Mig, I have to change the polarity. Once you get using gas you wont go back to fluxcore and you may have done that but just in case you cannot fluxcore wire and gas togeather. You need to use regular steel wire. Play with gas pressure

Secondly, I think I needed to play with the settings a little. I've got it working now! If you hear that sound something isn't right. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 21 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 21 | My welder sounds like bacon. I love my Miller 200, but still like to burn rod with my Lincoln buzzbox. Just take your time and work with it.
