| | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 43 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 43 | Stovebold, appreciate your expertise on the mystery slotted head bolt used for oiling a pre '58 head on a later block.Any ideas on why my 261 ('62 block),('57 head) that is a fresh rebuild and running in its frame without a bolt like that? When I took my engine apart and delivered the block and head to the machinist, he said it looked like both pieces were original. Is it possible the '57 head was a modified casting and just wound up with my engine at original assembly? You also mention dual Holley-Webers for the 261 I just picked up. They won't fit on the Edelbrock manifold thay came with the engine, will they? The manifold has spacing for a type 2 carb. Thanks everyone. | | |

Well I learn a bit every day  Does it have the oil line under the side cover? I got a dual Weber/Holley setup on a Offy intake Got my adaptors from Tom Langdon and they may fit your intake also. Long and short except for a special drilled bolt, used when a 59-62 block is used with earlier top end* to reduce the oil flow to the rockers.
Note: Use with drilled bolt
Plug # 37 64 579
Install in block oil port near right center head bolt.
This plug blocked the original oil path and sent it through the drilled head bolt
* The cylinder head did not change but the rockers did.
Without this plug and special bolt you will get to much oil to the top end.
