Stovebold, appreciate your expertise on the mystery slotted head bolt used for oiling a pre '58 head on a later block.Any ideas on why my 261 ('62 block),('57 head) that is a fresh rebuild and running in its frame without a bolt like that? When I took my engine apart and delivered the block and head to the machinist, he said it looked like both pieces were original. Is it possible the '57 head was a modified casting and just wound up with my engine at original assembly? You also mention dual Holley-Webers for the 261 I just picked up. They won't fit on the Edelbrock manifold thay came with the engine, will they? The manifold has spacing for a type 2 carb. Thanks everyone.
